Business profile

MA Clin Psych (RHODES), BA Psych Hons (RHODES), B Ed (RHODES)I am a Clinical Psychologist conveniently located at the Wanderers Wellness Centre, Illovo, Jhb - easily accessible from Sandton, Rosebank, Parktown, Atholl, Norwood, and surrounds.I work with individuals, couples and adolescents. I am primarily interested in our relationships and our sense of self in relation to others, oneself and the world. Apart from our interpersonal relationships, our connection to sex, food, money, gambling and other addictions are central to my work. We may sometimes lack internal cohesion leading to difficulties with intimacy, aggression, sexuality and shyness. Ultimately, we are searching for a sense of home and meaning, a place where we can just be ourselves. My adolescent work focuses on parent/chid conflict, lack of identity and resistance to authority and other institutions. This may play out as boredom, rage, destructive acting out and a lack of motivation. I work towards self-integration in which we are able to better tolerate and manage the conflicting demands of self and society. For companies whose employees require the tools to deal with the many workplace and health related issues, I offer a variety of workshops. These aim to empower employees to be more productive and motivated in the workplace. Workshops include: resilience, emotional intelligence, dealing with conflict at work and emotional preparation for retirement.I am also a regular contributor on Radio 702's "A Word on Psychology" programme dealing with clinical, corporate and topical issues. Podcasts can be accessed via the 702 website. My areas of expertise include:Individual and couple/marital therapySex therapyAdolescent issuesTransitional life phasesPreparing emotionally for retirementRelationshipsDepression and anxietyPersonalityTrauma, loss and bereavementRegular contributor to 702 Radio's psychology programmeMedico-legal assessmentsExecutive and life coachingFacilitation of corporate workshopsPresentations at conferences, meetings and schools
