Introducing engineered Corkflooring by Wicanders a division of Amorim Cork SA (Pty) Ltd.
As many trend-setting designers have come to appreciate: the flexibility of design with Wicanders Corkflooring is lush with opportunity.
Organic, sustainable and environmentally friendly;
Thermal properties warm in winter, cool in summer;
Acoustic properties naturally sound absorbing;
Naturally anti-allergenic; Impact resistant;
Water and fire resistant;
Easy to install and very comfortable underfoot.

All of the above make Cork Oak an ideal floor covering for any residential or commercial property, bringing natural warmth and comfort to any environment. A naturally occurring waxy substance in cork called suberin repels insects, mites and mould and protects cork from rotting when wet for a prolonged period of time. In addition, cork is naturally fire resistant and therefore doesn't release toxic gasses when exposed to flame. These natural properties plus the coatings used to seal cork flooring make it healthy and safe for humans and pets alike.
The cellular structure of cork gives a natural shock absorbing feel to the floor; the same cellular structure that makes the floor comfortable also reduces noise and vibration. Unlike hard materials like tile, wood or vinyl, cork is quiet and reduces impact noise such as when something drops on the floor or the sound of footsteps.
Eco friendly.
Cork flooring is undeniably the single most environmentally friendly floor covering in the world today. Cork Oak trees are harvested as opposed to felled; the bark is peeled on average every nine to 10 years, and trees can live between 250 to 350 years. Moreover, no harmful chemicals are used in the processing or manufacturing of cork. Portugal, which produces more than 50% of the world's cork, has been particularly careful with this resource. The first Portuguese regulations protecting cork oak trees date to 14th century. In the beginning of the 20th century, it became illegal to cut down the trees, other than for essential thinning and removal of old, non-productive trees. With the increasing concern for the environment, the Cork Oak remains the only tree whose bark regenerates after each harvest - leaving the tree unharmed. It's truly a renewable environmentally friendly resource. Our Cork Oak floating floors are fully imported from our parent company Amorim Revestimentos in Portugal and marketed in South Africa under the well-known WicandersCorkFlooring brand name.
