Our accredited courses are presented in a professional group dynamic, offering delegates the opportunity to interact and internalise the course material through roleplay simulations. The facilities management learning programme includes the following training courses:


Introduction to Facilities Management: (3 days)


Unit standard 15059, NQF 4.

The course provides an understanding of FM, what it is, where it comes from and how it contributes to business and business’ long term strategy. There is a focus on general business management skill and the application thereof in the facilities environment.


Practical Facilities Management: (5 or 3 days) -

Currently applying for Unit standard 258126


The course addresses the fundamentals of general facilities management in a practical way. The areas addressed include an overview of contract management, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and some of its implications, emergency and contingency planning, the basics of asset management and building maintenance, including how to perform a building assessment that can lead into a planned maintenance schedule for day to day implementation. A three day practical hands-on fire training and Occupational Health & Safety section has been added to this course, accredited by SA Fire and Medical Academy. This part of the training is linked to unit standards at NQF levels 1 & 2.


Procurement for Facility Services: (2 days)

The course deals with the fundamental need of facilities managers to successfully procure the services of facilities service providers and takes the delegate through the process of requirements definition to final contractor selection and appointment.


Contract Management: (2.5 days)

The course equips facilities managers with the skills to deliver services using contracted service providers successfully. The focus is to ensure the appropriate legal agreements are established that have a practical application in terms of putting together service level agreements. This enables the facilities manager and the service provider to extract the most out of the relationship over the contract period


Project Management for Facilities Managers: (3 days) –

Unit standard 120372, NQF 4.

The course seeks to expand on the concepts of time, cost and quality within the realm of facilities management and how to manage the dynamic between these changing elements. Project management skills and its application in the facilities function are emphasised. This course includes a one day practical computer based session on MS Project.
