CAPE GRACE 'SUGARBIRD' WINES LAUNCHED AT PROWEIN 2011
We are very excited about the new range of Cape Grace wines launched in March at Prowein 2011. Cape Grace has a complete new style and look to emphasize the unique attributes of South African wines and the Cape in particular. The new range consists of Chenin blanc, Pinotage and Shiraz. Each of these varietals, although not unique to South Africa, has certainly become symbolic of South African wines. Chenin blanc, originally from the Loire valley in France, has found its true home in South Africa and is made in an abundace of styles and is perhaps the most versatile variety around. Pinotage is proudly South African and was developed by crossing Pinot noir with Cinsault and now produces some of the most exciting new world red wines today. Shiraz expresses South African style like no other grape, merging the forward fruit of the New World and elegance of the Old World. The Cape Sugarbird was chosen to represent the brand as it is uniquely South African and endemic to the Cape and in flight represents the grace and elegance we want to achieve in our wines. LADY ANNE BARNARD SYRAH 2008 RELEASED
The 2008 vintage was a great year for our Syrah and was charaterized by supple tannins, clean fruit and above all elegance. LAB Syrah 2008 is everything you would expect from a top Syrah - it has a spicy and peppery character with bright, ripe fruit and silky tannins. Altough it can be drunk now it is definately worth cellaring for up to 5-7 years.
