Type setting is our first process in the production of pre printed stationery. This is where we through the use of graphic illustration software such as Adobe Illustrator, Freehand and Coral Draw create the layout for the artwork which is to be printed.
Type setting or graphic design in this form can be described as the process of combining photos, images and text to create a final result ready for print. These designs would have to conform with client requirements as well as industry standards in terms of layout, type size, colour, font style etc.
We would provide our clients with printed proofs for final approval before moving to the next part of the production phase.
Before you can proceed with printing on a litho printer one would need the litho printing plate. We use the CTF(Computer to film) method for creating plates. This process involves printing from computer to film, thereafter the film is burned onto a lithographic plate using a plate burner. This process requires a clean environment, skilled workers and a thorough proofing system. Here at Good Old Printing all processing of plates are done in house, thus there is more control, better security and the entire printing process time is dramatically reduced.
Litho Printing is a method for printing using a plate with a completely smooth surface.
The litho printing for Pharmaceutical Package Inserts proceeds on Single, Multicolour Presses or Perfectors (a litho printer which can print on both sides of paper simultaneously) depending on the particular requirements of our clients needs.
The paper being used are all 45g to 50g as required by most pharmaceutical companies due to requirements of their packaging machines.
The Inks are vegetable based thus limiting the amount of odour given off by the inserts.
Our litho printing process enables much longer and more detailed print runs which allow us to create high definition printing solutions. The Litho printing process is the most unrestrictive method and is the finest printing technique for large printing requirements.
Each individually printed sheet gets checked for any defects that could occur on the printing press before guillotining and folding takes place.
The process of cutting the paper known as guillotining is done on fully programmatic and accurate paper cutting machinery (to exact size within 2.5mm) which is allocated specifically for package inserts to avoid any possible defects.
Folding is the process whereby sheets of paper are folded down to size suitable for their cartons, and we are able to fold down to 20mm if required. All folding gets done under strict supervision in separate departments to avoid any possible confusion.
At Good Old Printing we use very high-tech advanced folding machinery designed specifically for accurate folding and batch counting before final packaging.
All package inserts are counted and batched and packed into plastic bags and thereafter into corrugated cartons.
