TUeMI approached Eskom
to consider electricity supply solutions ranging under 5 MW
in order to engage the small to medium sized private sector. At this
stage Eskom MTPPP programme is not currently structured to accommodate small
generators i.e. less than 5MW.
assisting small to medium sized companies in generating energy supply out of
biomass and wind energy. We are motivating small to medium sized private sectors
to participate on the ESCOMs challenge to supply up to 3 000 MW of
near-term electricity supply starting from the beginning of 2009.
CONSULT & ENGINEERING (Pty) LTDdeveloped a gas-producer to consume solid Bio-Mass fuels to produce
tar-free gas for
electricity generation and / or heat applications. The fuel can be used for
woodblocks, sourced from forestry- and sawmill waste, agricultural BIO-Mass,
invader bush and alien trees and plants. At present, such gasifier plants are
available from 75 KVA to 300 KVA.
to ESCOM to challenge the small to medium sized private sectors to provide
proposals to ESCOM to generate 10% of the near-term electricity supply starting
from the beginning of 2009. To generate more than 10% (300 MW) of the near-term
electricity supply of ESKOM we need app. 7,200 to/day of woody biomass which is
possible and a challenge e.g. could address the unemployment
South Africa. Funding models are viable under
the PNCP and the Base Load IPP Programme which is again a challenge for the
small to medium sized private sectors.
