Lewis Nkosi is the only surviving member of the magical trio that created South Africa's classic movie Come Back Africa. A journalist on Drum in the 50's, he left South Africa on a one-way exit permit in 1960 after winning a Niemann Fellowship to Harvard University.
An eminent literary critic, together with Wole Soyinka, he served on the first judging panel of the BBC's Africa Radio Drama competition.
He is currently working on his memoirs, tentatively entitled Memoirs of a Motherless Child. Nkosi describes himself as a "walking library of African literature".
