Solectek WiMAX Product Line Awarded USDA Acceptance and “Buy American” Status
San Diego, California, July 16, 2009
Solectek Corporation, a leading provider of broadband wireless connectivity products, today announced that its WiMAX product line has received USDA acceptance and Buy American status from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Utility Services (RUS).
“The USDA listing for SkyWay MAX is especially meaningful because Solectek is one of a few vendors that design and manufacture products in the US, directly supporting the US economy,” says Dr. Eric Lee, CEO of Solectek. “Solectek is now well positioned to serve rural broadband operators with their wireless needs, from last-mile to backhaul.”
In addition to fixed WiMAX, Solectek’s comprehensive product portfolio includes mobile broadband systems, licensed microwave backhaul, unlicensed band PTP kits, and video surveillance transport systems. These product combinations, delivered in integrated solutions, represent an easy way for operators to build infrastructure rapidly and without delay.
Recently, the US government has clarified further initiatives beyond the original USDA RUS programs. Solectek’s WiMAX and other broadband wireless products are well suited for the newly open federal stimulus packages -- Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) administered by National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and Broadband Initiatives Program (BIP) administered by the US Department of Agriculture.
“Wireless technologies are widely regarded as the only practical means to extend broadband services quickly at reasonable infrastructure costs,” says Dr. Lee, “Solectek welcomes the opportunity to work with any operators that are planning on submitting applications for BTOP, BIP and RUS funding programs.”
