Cranage and Rigging

Sarens SA supplies lifting equipment for projects ranging from 1 ton to 3200 tons. The company owns a fleet of modern cranes that are serviced regularly and maintained beyond statutory requirements. Cranes and specialized 'tackle' are also sourced from trusted local and international suppliers when necessary. Our crane operators are well trained, tested and certified in compliance with regulations. In addition, crane operators and back-up vehicles are equipped with cellular phones to ensure that ongoing contact is maintained with operations while projects are being carried out.

Currently 1 250 ton maximum crane lifting capacity is available in South Africa, but with access to world wide equipment, stored at strategic locations, it is possible to mobilize up to 3200 ton lifting equipment (Crane, Jacking or Gantry) within a month.

Where access is restricted, we rig loads weighing in excess of 100 tons into position. Sarens SA also offers comprehensive insurance for projects.
We develop customised solutions to suit the needs of each customer and the demands of each project. This includes initial surveys and recommendations regarding the availability and suitability of equipment and carriers. In addition, we provide regular updates and progress reports to our customers, hands-on supervision throughout the project.

Project Logistics

Sarens NV manages and co-ordinates the entire ambit of logistics necessary for large industrial and infrastructure projects. This entails the loading, transportation, shipping, clearing, forwarding and installation of components, to and from any destination in the world.

Sarens SA develop customised solutions to suit the needs of each customer and the demands of each project. This includes initial surveys and recommendations regarding the availability and suitability of equipment and carriers; multiple transportation alternatives; and abnormal and heavy load logistics. In addition, we provide regular updates and progress reports to our customers, hands-on supervision throughout the project.

Project Engineering

Sarens SA supplies lifting equipment for projects ranging from 1 ton to 3200 tons.
When planning a major lift we establish the equipment requirements, evaluate the costs and prepare detailed lifting studies, such as risk assessments and lifting procedures. Prior to the execution of the project, soil conditions and crane access are investigated.
If required, the construction of crane bases or access roads necessary to conduct and complete the project is undertaken

The mining sector currently contributes a small portion to Sarens SAs business, however, as new life is breathed into projects deferred as a result of the economic slowdown, project construction will see the light of day in the near future, Sarens SA technical & projects director, Lance Strachan, tells Nelendhre Moodley.
