  • We endeavour to promote the child's social, emotional, physical and intellectual development.

  • More important than teaching the formal skills of reading, writing and arithmetic we aim to teach the children in such a way that they learn through play.

  • We intend to set the groundwork and provide the child with the necessary skills to enable them to manage, learn and reach their potential in the formal education environment.

  • We wish to instil a love for learning in the child.

  • We strive for a nurturing, loving, kind and understanding environment that makes the child's transition to nursery school a positive one and that nursery school becomes a home away from home.

  • We work with parents in the best interests of their child without detriment to other people's children and we are available to parents to discuss their child's progress.

  • We undertake to treat all children equally, irrespective of race, religion or nationality.

  • We promote open-mindedness, acceptance and respect for all races, creeds, cultures and abilities.

  • We agree to always treat the children with respect and speak to them in a manner which is not degrading, offensive, abusive, humiliating, malicious or condescending.

  • We discipline the children in a positive and constructive manner without ever using physical or corporal punishment and we reprimand the behaviour and not the child, without shouting.

  • We seek to create a stimulating environment where the teachers interact with the children on a personal and individual level and where the teachers spend time playing with the children.

  • We are determined not to discuss a child in front of the child or in front of any other children.

  • We are determined not to discuss any child with any parent other than their own parent.

  • We make an effort to adapt our teaching styles according to how each child learns be it through visual, auditory or demonstration methods and we support any child who experiences difficulty in any area of their development.

  • We mean to prepare progress reports honestly and accurately without evading areas of concern in a child's development.

  • We go all out to offer a programme that is varied, fun, exciting, educational, interactive and appealing to the children at our nursery school.

Roosevelt Extension Nursery School - Parent Communication

Regular notices are dispatched through the post pocket system, keeping parents abreast of school events. The school believes that good communication with parents is vitally important. A written progress report is given for each child at the end of terms 1. We have informal 'get-togethers' and other social fundraising events. All parents are invited to attend the schools AGM.
