What does MWP stand for?
The initials MWP are taken from the first letter of the surnames of the three founding members of the company – Neil Manthorp, Alison Ward and Matthew Pearce (now no longer with MWP).
What does MWP do?
MWP is a sports news agency, providing content across all media platforms (print, internet, radio and television) on developments on and off the field in a number of sports in Southern Africa. Our focus is largely on cricket, rugby and golf, but we cover all sports and our journalists are also able to write authoritatively on subjects such as travel, politics, communications and matters of general human interest. MWP is also able to undertake broadcast projects as well as provide the relevant content, and can provide corporate media training.
Where is MWP based?
The main offices of MWP are located in Cape Town, with satellite offices in Johannesburg and Durban. MWP also maintains a strong network of freelancers to provide reportage when a member of staff is unavailable to attend a match/event in person.

MWP’s office in Cape Town is fitted with a state of the art isdn decoder, allowing radio stations to record or broadcast interviews and reports in full broadcast quality. All our journalists carry recording equipment and travel with laptop computers with the latest software to enable them to file quality audio over the internet. MWP is also able to provide fully mixed audio packages to order.
What is MWP’s broadcast capability?
In recent years, MWP has provided full audio commentary for both radio and internet platforms on both rugby and cricket and hosted radio talk shows from our own studios.
