Agriligna is the longest
operating wood polymer composite manufacturer in South Africa with the most experience
in the use of the technology for African conditions. They have been in operation out of their
Nylstroom/Modimolle plant in the Limpopo Province since 2002. They started the ECOWOOD decking range
after stringent field testing and 2 years of development. There are already ECOWOODdecks
that have been installed for more than 5 years, and therefore the company can
back up its 5 year warranty on the decking with confidence.
As opposed to most
imported composite decks, ECOWOOD decking is manufactured from a PVC base, and not a polypropylene
(PP) or polyethylene base(PE). PVC is a
proven outdoor polymer in the building industry, whilst PP and PE based
composite decking has been found to fail in our harsh local conditions.
Furthermore, ECOWOOD decking contains a polymer load of 45% as opposed to imported
PP/PE composite decking that typically contains only 20% - 30% polymer. The polymer load is a direct function of the
moisture absorption and long term durability.
ECOWOOD decking can be
machined like normal wood using normal woodworking machinery. ECOWOOD decking is installed
with the proprietary EcoClip, which leaves room for movement and the decking is
installed in a record fast time. The
span width used, is a standard 400 mm, thus not affecting the cost of the
sub-structure. The deck contains UV stabilisation to ensure a longer life in
African conditions and the minimum maintenance!
On large decking installations, the local
manufacturing of ECOWOOD decking, allows planks to be
supplied according to customs lengths to minimise cut-offs and waste!
ECOWOOD decking is
available in various colours to suit every taste.
