Air-conditioning systems are selected to provide energy-efficient operation and low life cycle costs. o Educational facilities heating, ventilation and air-conditioning purpose-designed for the wide variation of applications. Air-conditioning system design is based on providing a healthy environment in large assembly rooms and laboratories. Owner and occupancy requirements are established and documented as primary design input. o Shopping center heating, ventilation and air-conditioning using proven, standard commercial equipment available in South Africa. Air-conditioning design is based on providing flexible air-conditioning layout which be adapted to shop layout changes. o Commercial or industrial facilities air-conditioning or ventilation based on safe local and international practices. During the design the facility owner and user requirements are established and documented as primary design input. o Laboratory heating, ventilation and air-conditioning including fume cupboards, its associated ventilation systems and ventilation of chemical storage facilities. During the design the laboratory owner and user requirements are established and documented as primary design input to ensure safe and efficient laboratory operation. o Clean room heating, ventilation and air-conditioning typically based on ISO Standard 14644 or US Federal Standard 209E suitable for specialized manufacturing or maintenance processes. o Nuclear facility heating, ventilation and air-conditioning based on USA, South African, British or European design standards and including HVAC for nuclear power stations and fuel manufacturing plants. During the design owner and user requirements are established and integrated with best practice standards and guidelines. These requirements are documented and serve as input to ensure compliance of the design to nuclear safety standards, and to provide purpose-designed air-conditioning and ventilation systems for efficient operation of the nuclear facility. The design is verified by participation in HAZOP and FMECA analysis. Flow diagrams (PFD’s) as well as piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s) to ISA standards are generated during design. Only approved design software is used.

The scope of services as summarized below are based on the ECSA guideline scope of services (refer Terms and Conditions) and includes normal service and additional services. Other scope of services can be negotiated. The scope of services is summarized as follows:
Normal services including:
o Report stage (optional) including establishment of facility user and regulatory requirements, design criteria, and proposal of design concepts based on feasibility studies.
o Preliminary design stage including preliminary design and preparation of diagrams, drawings, plans and specifications, and cost estimates.
o Detail design and tender stage including detail design concluding in associated diagrams and drawings, specifications and schedules of quantities, updated cost estimates, procurement documentation and analysis of tender submissions.
o Construction stage including contract administration and co-ordination, monitoring of construction/manufacturing activities, attendance of site meetings, checking of contractor technical submissions, issuing contractor instructions, issuing payment certificates, preparing progress reports, evaluating commissioning procedures, attending acceptance tests and certification of final contract value.
Additional services including:
o Various additional services including enquiries not directly related to the scope of works, making arrangements for servitudes etc, arranging for diversion of other services, obtaining approval from authorities, surveys/investigations/tests, and preparation of manufacturing drawings.
