“Restorations by Eloise” is a professional restoration studio, situated in Pietermaritzburg, Kwazulu Natal, South Africa.

In 2002, Eloise completed a course in ceramics conservation via the South African Institute of Objects Conservation. She has been practising the restoration of ceramics and glass full time since then.

Established in 2002, this studio specialises in the restoration of porcelain and pottery. The main focus is on ceramics; however restoration in this studio also extends to such materials as resin, glass, jade, ivory, wood, stone, marble and enamelled articles.

Eight years of studio experience has demonstrated that almost any rigid material can, in fact, be imitated, most often to perfection, using a specialised range of resins, pigments and bulking agents, as well as sculpted putty disguised with airbrushing and hand painting.

All the restoration processes, from the initial cleaning to the final finishing and polishing, are done by hand, ensuring exquisite attention to detail, and an impressively flawless result.

This studio prides itself on innovation in terms of finding reliable solutions to tricky problems in restoration, and welcomes difficult, complex and unusual restoration challenges. However, the more ‘ordinary’ restoration requirements are never turned away!

“Restorations by Eloise” encourages correspondence and queries from restorers and clients alike, and quotes issued by this studio are obligation free.
