I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a wonderful 2011!
I am so excited about what is to come. Even though many of us might still feel physically weary from last year, we are tying up the “strongman” to dispossess the old and move into the new.
This is the year, of making things happen!
God has shown us how easily God can do things for us. Now it is up to us to make things happen for God & God’s Kingdom purpose in earth, and in our spheres of influence! You didn’t go through all those trials in 2010 for nothing! You were busy “slaying” the enemy in the old structure, to move into your new territory & the new level God has for you this year.
Here are 6 keys to hold onto in 2011 as you move forward in the grace and power of the King of kings:
If you focus on what God has for you and your ministry (which ultimately involves loving people as part & parcel of what you do); you will get stronger spiritually and you will feel more and more motivated to get out there and make it happen. Don’t let your mind slip into old thinking.
2. Bind up and cast out anything that could influence your life negatively or, that could have a stronghold over your body, soul or mind.
If you don’t bind up the strongman, you will carry things over to 2011 that will decay the vision God has for you, and will hinder you. If you leave some poison in the body it will still affect the body, though you may not die. Don’t let the enemy have any kind of foothold over your life this year. Otherwise he occupies certain territory and space in your life & mind, and robs you of that God given vision. – Your God given vision, (the images ideas, dreams), form part of your purpose and destiny. Treasure those things, and guard yourselves vigilantly.
3. Keep your passion alive!
If you keep your eyes on the vision & goal; you will have desire, passion and drive to move forward like a battering ram, in the spirit!
Decide today, that you are not going to let anything stop you from accomplishing all that God has in store for you this year. The devil is a specialist at making us short sighted spiritually. If you don’t have the vision in front of you, if he manages to steal it away from you; you lose hope in the promises & purpose for and of your life. Hold onto the good, leave the bad behind, and move forward in Christ. You are living and breathing for a purpose and that’s not just to take up space! God wants to use you!
4. Make Jesus your first love
God wants you to feel motivated to move forward. So, stay disciplined, don’t lose your passion no matter what obstacles come in your way. It is the overcomer that is the inheritor of the blessings and promises, in the book of Revelation, where Jesus spoke to the churches. There is no secret to being an overcomer. It is simply hearing what Jesus said to the church at Ephesus, in the book of Revelation, where he told them that they had forgotten their first love. The key to being an overcomer, is to make sure you start the year embracing Jesus as your first love.
The love of Jesus combined with our human understanding of transferring that love, makes for a healthy relationship. Without His love, we rely on a very shaky version of what we call love! Our human love without the combination of the love of Jesus, is judgemental, jealous, possessive, insecure, critical & selfish. (I know many people feel they love wonderfully and beautifully, even without the love of Jesus!) But that is only because our human love is a “glimpse” of the love of Jesus, because Jesus is the author of love, ultimately; and as human beings we bear the characteristics of Christ’s love as we are made in his image, but in a distorted way, when that love is not activated by a living close relationship with Jesus Christ in each of our lives.
5. Put on the full armour of God wherever you go
Take up your shields of faith and get ready, the enemy has been defeated, don’t let him play “online mind games” with you, and make you think that YOU are the one defeated! Then you are letting him spam your mind with rubbish!
Put on the full armour of God, nothing will stop what God wants to do with you, in you and through you this year! –We must decrease, but God’s power must increase.
6. Claim your new identity for the season, remember to be authentic, and to keep it real!
Keep it real- People respond much better when they know you are authentic and being who you really are!
When Jesus walked the earth, we may not have seen him but we can see where he has been! He kept it real, he was himself, and in the power of the Holy Spirit, He broke the chains of injustice & hopelessness, & brought people to freedom and into liberty.
Let your life be like Jesus, make an impact wherever you go. Don’t waste space, use it for God’s glory!
It’s your year, take it with both hands, bowed in prayer & moving in power.
I look forward to 2011 with you, together we can do all things, in Him (Christ), and through Him! Nothing is impossible with God!
2Pe 1:3-8 NIV His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, kindness; and to kindness, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
