Infrared thermography is used to perform Predictive Maintenance (PdM) inspections on

mechanical equipment. Excess heat means excess friction. Before a mechanical component fails, it heats up, thermography is used to visualise the excess heat in order that maintenance personnel can promptly act to correct the problem and alleviate component failure thereby avoiding damage to the component and the adjacent components, safety hazards and/or production downtime.
