A South Easter was forecast for the day but this did not deter us to make our way to Cape Point. The road we travelled was already part of the outing, winding all along our beautiful coast and through characteristic towns along the way.

A small group of ECO-Rangers met at the library and departed to the Silvermine Nature Reserve.
While driving we passed through a shower of rain. We held thumbs that we would be able to have our walk!
Luckily the weather looked much better once we arrived at Silvermine. The Silvermine Nature Reserve is a lovely recreational area. [..]

After some technical problems, a long queue caused by a police check point and nearly being chased by a rhino while driving through Fairy Glen Game Reserve, we managed to get to the starting point of our long awaited hike into the Hex River mountains.

We had planned to walk up the Helderberg, but as it was very hot we decided to go to the Koffiekloof gorge on Vergelegen Wine Estate.

Building Owl Boxes : 10 September 2010
All keen with a hammer in their hands, the ECO-Rangers arrived to build owl boxes. Andreas gave us a talk on what makes owls so special. He also showed a whole variety of owls and their calls, some laughing, others hooting which the ECO-Rangers found interesting and amusing.

Making Toad Houses : 28th May 2010
As the weather was real frog weather, we learned about frogs and toads. Andreas told us interesting facts about frogs and toads. We saw pictures of the tiniest frog, the biggest and the most beautiful frogs! We were shown what influence man has on these lovely creatures.

Tree planting on Wedderwill : 21 May 2010
