| | Strip Steel
sources all its materials in the Republic of South Africa and can supply:
Cold-rolled low carbon steel (annealed, full hard or intermediate tempers)
Hot-rolled low carbon steel (pickled or unpickled)
Cold-rolled spring steels (annealed)
Hot-rolled spring steels (pickled or unpickled)
Electroplated steel (tin, nickel, copper, brass and zinc)
| SLIT ONLY The material is slit to the required width. The thickness tolerances and mechanical properties are to the specification of the material supplied by the prime manufacturer. || || |
| || || GAUGE EQUALISED OR INTERMEDIATE TEMPERThe material is given one or more cold-rolling passes to confer tighter thickness tolerances and/or to cold work the material for higher strength values. |
Such materials are less formable than unworked materials.
| || | PRECISION ROLLED
The material is given several cold-rolling passes
to confer close tolerances before being annealed and then skin-passed if necessary.
|Irrespective of category, various operations such as pickling, reslitting, secondary rolling and/or cutting to length may be introduced depending on customer requirements |
Edge-modified strip invariably falls into either the intermediate temper or precision-rolled category.
Certification for materials in all the categories is available on request at the time of ordering.
Special steel types, coatings, etc. can be supplied.
Spring steel is available only in the soft annealed condition. Hardened and tempered strip is NOT offered.
