Medi IQ and Supersport United visit CHOC
Our first attempt at the Medi IQ Fitness fun day turned out to be a damp one. With a great start to the day, we were all set up and ready to go until the rain started to pour and we were forced to cancel our Fun Day. We hurried the children indoors and into warm beds and called it a day.
A quick call to the Media and some rescheduling, we were ready for our next try Weather Permitting.
The Medi IQ Fitness fun day’s second attempt kicked off with a goal in the right direction at the CHOC house in Houghton on the 9th February. Three time PSL champions Supersport United arrived to support the children from CHOC (Childrens Haematology Oncology Clinics), for a fun filled day of
testing out Medi IQ’s range of products.
Medi IQ is committed to the development of athletes with their wide range of equipment for any type of exercise. Promoting stronger, healthier athlete’s that can last longer on the field and perform at their highest potential is their objective, which they achieve through the range of sporting equipment used to increase mobility, strengthen the muscles, improve speed and agility as well as maintain a strong and even balance throughout the activity.
Bronwen Scholtz, MD of Medi IQ comments, “Our objective today is to get the kids involved in exercise to get them interacting with their heroes whilst ensuring that this afternoon remains a positive memory
for all those involved. Medi IQ means business, so it is our pleasure that we are afforded this opportunity to interact with the professional unit that is Matsatsantsa.”
The CHOC children were divided into teams with the soccer players on each team. Whilst each soccer player was afforded the opportunity to display their speed, agility and strength, the children simply enjoyed
their time with the hurdles, cones, resistance bands and anti burst balls. The team that could complete the given tasks in the shortest time would be the winner.
The huffing and puffing, Rowen Fernandez talks on his experience of the day, “Today was certainly enjoyable for all of us. But I am feeling a little bit tender from all the stomach crunches and I definitely found bouncing
on balls the most difficult to complete but I finished the course in good time and enjoyed myself thoroughly
with the kids.”
The courses were hard on the athletes as their physical strength and endurance was tested with the range of Medi IQ products. The children enjoyed watching their favorite sportsman struggle and overcome the
challenge’s that faced them much like how the children are tested every day to overcome their hurdles.
Adri Ludick is delighted with the effort that Medi IQ and Supersport United made today,“Thank you to everyone for taking time to laugh and exercise with the kids today has brought so much joy into their lives. We will make a point of ensuring the children receive photo’s from today, in order to give them inspiration and strength as they continue their battle.”
Soccer superstar Bradley Carnell had a broad smile across his face as he commented, “What a super day this was. As we journey through our busy lives we forget the power that heroes and leaders have and the impact that each player makes. These children are unbelievable as their spirit is
recharged with a day like today, we can only hope that we have passed on some of our strength to them. I am delighted that Medi IQ gave these children a chance to get fit and have fun.”
With the players all strung out of energy and the children needing some rest, the day drew to a close with every child being the winner.
Bronwen concludes, “Today’s event exceeded almost all of our expectations, the players found the challenges tough yet the children laughed from start to finish. This event was indeed a great start for our brand.”
