The residential house in the eastern suburbs of Pretoria was designed to incorporate the natural setting and respect climatic influences. The house is sustainable and includes principles of passive heating and cooling, rainwater harvesting to flush toilets and irrigate the garden, solar water heating and recycled building materials. A contemporary design was chosen using concrete, glass and steel with a minimalist shape and an open plan configuration. The living spaces open towards the outside in order to blur the boundaries between inside and outside.
