This learnership is based on a qualification awarded by the AAT. In South Africa the AAT works as AAT(SA). This is a joint partnership between The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), South Africa's top accountancy body, and the AAT, the leading international body promoting the skills and recognition of accounting technicians. AAT(SA) is the premier professional body in South Africa dedicated to the education, development, regulation and support of accounting technicians. Entry Requirements

Learners must have completed the FET Certificate: Accounting Technician at NQF Level 4.  While it is possible for a learner to enter the Certificate: Accountant without first having completed the FET Certificate: Accounting Technician, this is not recommended as the unique competence-based style of study is difficult to assimilate at such a technical level.  Learners entering directly into this level will be asked to demonstrate a competence-based ability at NQF level 4 which may be assessed through a skills test, review of evidence of recognized tertiary education or work experience, or any other mechanism deemed an effective assessment of competence at this level by AAT(SA) policy.  Learners must also have a good level of literacy and numeracy and must be able to complete assessments in English. Learners must be employed (previously or for the purposes of this learnership) in order to participate in this learnership.

Accounting Technician (NQF level 3) Learnership Certificate

The Certificate: Accounting Technician Learnership leads to the AAT(SA) FET Certificate: Accounting Technician learnership, which is registered at level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). Along with relevant work experience, it also leads to membership of AAT(SA) at the Silver membership level.


AAT Accounting Certificate – NQF Level 5

The final level - NQF Level 5 covers higher level accounting tasks, including drafting financial statements, managing budgets and evaluating financial performance. You’ll also have the opportunity to specialize in areas from tax to auditing and credit control. A perfect progression if you’ve already completed Levels 3 and 4, or you’re at a more advanced stage in your career and want a qualification to give you the confidence and proof that you have.


AAT Accounting Certificate – NQF Level 4

NQF Level 4 is the second level of the AAT Accounting Qualification. It introduces you to more complex accounting tasks, such as maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns. This course is perfect if you’ve completed Level 3, or you’re already at a more intermediate level and looking to develop existing accounting skills.


AAT Accounting Certificate – NQF Level 3

NQF Level 3 covers a range of basic accounting practices and techniques, from costing and double-entry bookkeeping to computerized accounting. It's Ideal if you’re new to working in finance or you’re looking to expand and develop your foundation knowledge and skills.
