Our service offering emanates from our knowledge & experience in two key areas, blended with a strong technology base. These areas are:
- Data mining/analysis (sometimes termed business intelligence)
- Financial & Business modeling
Data mining involves the analysis of corporate datasets to extract meaningful trends and patterns, thereby informing business decisions. Capital Analytics assists companies in leveraging their information assets to give them a strategic advantage.
The financial modeling performed by Capital Analytics has its roots in traditional Actuarial modeling techniques (such as pricing and valuations for insurance companies); banking calculations (derivative securities pricing, retail provisioning) blended with the latest tools in Mathematical Statistics, Applied Mathematics and IT.
In particular, Capital Analytics have extensive experience with economic and regulatory capital modeling. We have staff that led the team assisting the FSB in setting the new short-term insurance regulatory capital requirements and are continuously active with all the relevant stakeholders in this regard. Consulting to the Short-Term Insurance Industry already forms a large part of our day to day activities.
As an example of the potential synthesis of our areas of technical excellence, Capital Analytics was recently involved in a strategic supply study for the DME and the oil industry. There, we delivered a detailed dynamic projection model for the supply & demand of downstream petroleum products. The business model created was calibrated with industry data collected, sifted, analyzed and carefully applied within the projection model. This model will enable the stakeholders in the oil industry to be informed of potential shortages of petrol and diesel in advance, at a very fine level of detail, allowing for advance planning.
