The release of the new Guidelines for taxation of Cast, Crew and Models in the South African industry has created a number of logistical problems for the affected companies, which has been most apparent since the various agents handed over the responsibility for payroll management to the Ad agencies and Production houses. While many of the larger companies already have the necessary infrastructures in place to accomodate the increased payroll responsibilities, many of the smaller companies are finding the new situation problematic. While we have been assisting these clients to install Contact Payroll on their systems and offering training and support, in many cases the clients simply do not have the time to manage the additional work, and the cost of employing someone full time is not feasable. We have therefore decided that we will include Payroll Administration to our list of services offered. This will enable the smaller ad agentsand production houses to relax in the knowledge that the artist and crew salaries are calculated correctly under the new guidelines, the monthly return figures are prepared on time, and their annual tax certificates will be submitted and sent out to the employeesat the end of the tax year. Our experience in various aspects of the industry means that we are already familiar with the industry specific calculations for overtime, usage etc, and due to the fact thatwe are always included in the PMA discussions with SARS, this enables us to ensure that all legal requirements are met.
