Dr James McCord opened McCord Hospital in 1909 to provide medical care to the Zulu people of Durban, South Africa.Today they provides top quality, affordable healthcare for all population groups. The hospital is also a centre for health education, training and research locally and internationally.
Under the leadership of CEO Dr Helga Holst, McCord Hospital is increasingly known for its compassionate care and high standards in healthcare delivery and for being at the forefront of medical advances.
The McCord School of Nursing has been operational since 1924.

Two of the South African Nursing Council accredited nurse training programs were initially developed through the McCord School of Nursing.
