The HI-PE Elliptic is a high-performance column Walk-Through Metal Detector which exceeds all International Security Standards while giving the minimum number of false alarms for personal items such as keys, coins and belt buckles. The unique patented design of the gate is compact and easy to install, and takes up the minimal amount of space. The exterior polymer coating of the elliptic model is extremely durable and water resistant, preventing damage to internal components. The electronic control unit is built into the gate, and can be programmed locally or remotely, via and RS232 serial line, using a separate computer or terminal. The unit is equipped with a high-visibility alphanumeric display which gives the operator the visual alarm signal. The control panel is protected by a lockable cover which prevents access by unauthorized persons.
In operational terms, the main features of the HI-PE Elliptic can be summed up as follows: a high level of discrimination between significant metal masses, such as weapons which are to be detected, and personal metal effects in common use; extremely high levels of immunity to external interference, making it easy to use even when external electrical noise is encountered; and furthermore, the sensitivity is independent of the transit speed.
Via the “International Standards” (IS) command, the HI-PE Elliptic also allows programming of any security level, such as NILECJ and other Security Standards, merely by touching three keys, obviating the need to carry out long test procedures.
Its construction also makes it ideal for use as a portable Metal Detector, and if this is required CEIA can supply protective packaging for transporting the gate and control unit.
The HI-PE Elliptic Metal Detector is available in the standard version, for indoor use, and in the “waterproof” version for use outdoors (level of protection: IP 55).
The device can be linked to an Ethernet LAN through the MDNC-1 Network Controller and managed using CEIA’s NetID Software.
The HI-PE Elliptic is protected by national and international patens and registrations.

PMD2, acronym for Programmable Metal Detector, is the most advanced CEIA application with an international patent of its own. It generates an electromagnetic scanning shield for the detection of metal weapons inside a monitored passage. Thanks to this technology, the PMD2 Metal Detector allows weapons to be accurately located on people in transit, considerably speeding up search operations. A “height on person” display actually indicates, by means of illuminated LED’s the position of the weapon on the person. The location zones are not fixed, as in the case of metal detectors with multiple receiver-transmitter coils, but are variable and continuous so as to achieve optimum resolution.
The magnetic scanning technique also ensures better discrimination of metal personal effects, superior to that of any other multi-zone system. The results obtained have shown a notably increased flow rate, combined with a high level of security. The security level of the PMD2 Metal Detector is calibrated by means of a chip card, a CEIA technological innovation, which allows the installer or the Head of Security to eliminate the programming operations. The PMD2 Metal Detector is recommended for use in all high security applications where the maximum degree of protection is required, combined with a substantial flow of people and the minimum number of alarms due to metal personal effects.
The PMD2 series comprises of two models of metal detectors, the PMD2/PTZ, with panel gate, and PMD2/ENZ & PMD2/EWZ, with column gate. Each model includes a detection gate and a central electronics unit to process the signals. The gate of the passageway also incorporates a bar display for the immediate location of the detected weapon.
Both type of transducers, panels and columns, are washable and will not lose their shape even in humid conditions, they are also equipped with shock-absorbent edges to protect against knocks. A special protective layer renders the base of the panels waterproof and therefore fully protected even in the event of wet floors. The panel model’s antenna incorporates the power supply section, which may include, on request, two emergency batteries that automatically come into operation in the event of a mains failure. In the column models, the power supply and battery section is contained in a separate unit (MBSU) which is connected to the antenna by a special cable.

This is a metal detector recommended for use in detecting weapons on people at strategic access points where there is a significant flow rate of people.
The most notable feature of this device is its very high discrimination with respect to personal metal objects, even when programmed to detect small-sized weapons such as those defined in the Highest Security Standards.
Among the advantages that accrue from this level of discrimination are an overall increase in the security level, which is achieved because search operations are concentrated on a limited number of people, and a significant reduction in the running costs of the check-points thanks to the reduced number of personnel needed for screening operations.
Programming of the apparatus does not require special training, since the security level desired may be entered via a simple operation involving the introduction of a special personalized chip-card.
Chip-card programming allows the device to be configured extremely quickly to the security level desired, which may be chosen from the International Standards currently applicable to walk-through metal detectors.
In addition, the same chip-card may be used to programme all the 02PN10 Metal Detectors belonging to the same user.
Keyboard and chip-card programming operations are protected against tampering on the part of unauthorized personnel by hardware and software keys.
Other features of this device include extremely high immunity to environmental interference and the employment of the most up-to-date, high-integration solid state technology.
The 02PN10 is the model selected by and operational in all German and Canadian airports.

Metal Detectors used in prisons and in industrial control procedures are subject to stringent requirements in terms of sensitivity, immunity to interference, stability and mechanical protection. The SMD600 Metal Detector (Super Metal Detector) and the Multi Zone version SMD600/PTZ are devices specifically designed for this type of application; detection sensitivity towards both magnetic and non-magnetic metals is at least ten times superior to the best standards available until now; in these operating conditions immunity to external interference becomes fundamental, and the SMD600 can be installed under conditions which would prove prohibitive for other Metal Detectors without sacrificing any of its detection capabilities.
The SMD600 Multizone allows the position of any threat, even a small disposable blade, to be located on people in transit, providing significantly faster search operations without the inconvenience of the usual zone systems that employ multiple coils. A “man’s height” display actually indicates, by means of a series of luminous LED’s, the position of the weapon on the person.
The connection cable and control unit of the SMD600 are fitted with anti-tamper protection, particularly important in prison applications; the control unit is contained within a stainless steel casing fitted with a key-operated blocking mechanism.
The detection gate, incorporating the control unit, is extremely stable and possesses a high level of mechanical inertia to guarantee solid, reliable operation over long periods of time.
The control unit can be programmed locally, via keypad and alphanumeric display located on the control panel, or remotely, via a RS232 serial line, using an external computer or terminal.
The alphanumeric display also provides a clear visual alarm signal. The audible alarm can be adjusted in volume and tone, in either continuous or pulse mode.
The SMD600 can be linked to an Ethernet LAN through the MDC-1 Network Controller and managed using CEIA’s NetID Software.
The CEIA NetID System is a multi-user software environment for the management
and monitoring of a network of CEIA Metal Detectors. It is possible to
manage detector installation, maintenance and operational parameters and
to monitor the detector’s configuration and status in real time.

Each user created in the NetID System has a personal access profile granting
specific access to the system functions. The metal detectors are connected
to an Ethernet LAN through the MDNC-1 Network Controller. The MDNC-1 contains
a non-volatile memory and a real time clock enabling transit logging even
in case of network outrage. The Network Controller communicates through
an encrypted data channel with a server dedicated to the NetID System.
The same server contains a database of all metal detector settings, history
of parameter changes and passenger transit statistics.
Users run the Management and Monitoring applications on client PCs networked
with the server. User authentication for the use of the application is
carried out by the NetID server.
MetCard ID is a high security system for screening personnel entering/exiting
critical buildings and/or areas. The MetCard technology has been developed
for simultaneous weapons detection and long-range reading of R.F. transponders.
MetCard ID provides unmatched facility security through efficient integration
of weapons detection, on-the-fly hands-free access card reading, biometric
verification and access authority verification in one integrated checkpoint
MetCard ID uses the TCP/IP network protocol, so it can easily be connected
to Local or Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN). All MetCard ID archives are
based on SQL Server and, consequently accessible via ODBC, the most widely-used
standard in industry for network access to databases. Before the system
can visualize the photos and access authorizations of the personnel, these
data must be gathered and made available on the network. This is all done
using the MetCard ID Enrolment Station, which also allows the records
to be printed out. The user data are then automatically stored in a Windows
NT server. A two-level password system protects data security and allows
authorized administrators to manage access authorizations from any PC
connected to the local network.
The control unit, called MetCard ID CheckPoint, comprises of a gate with
an incorporated, easily visible, direction light signal and a control
cabin. The latter is equipped with a 15 inch active-matrix touch-screen
for efficient man-machine interfacing, and a Fast Ethernet UTP port for
connection to a local network.
When a person enters via the gate, the security guard can see their certified
image, the result of the weapons search analysis and the result of the
automatic check on access authorization (the right to pass through that
particular door at that particular time and in that direction).
On the basis of this information, the security guard can allow access,
with total security, in less than one second.
In addition, the server also stores a series of data, such as the person’s
identity, the direction and time of transit, the metal detector alarm
level and any violations of access authorization, which can be queried
at any time.
The PD 140 is a portable unit with a large area detection surface which
is designed to speed up screening operations. It features a three position
switch for selection of visible or audible and visible alarm, adjustable
sensitivity, a buit-in buzzer and an earpiece output. LEDs provide visible
indication of an alarm, power on, and low-battery state. It has a battery
life of 150 hours continuous operation.
The acoustic alarm, which is pulsed, features optimum audibility even
in environments with a high level of background noise. Identification
of the metal mass detected is aided by the fact that the alarm intensity
is proportional to the size of the mass itself.
The PD140 Metal Detector is available in two versions, the PD140 and
the PD140R (model equipped for no-contact induction battery charger),
with standard sensitivity, and the PD140SR, a super-sensitive device for
special applications, i.e. prisons, chip manufacturers, archaeological
research, restoration work and hospitals.
Both are available with a 9V dry battery or rechargeable Ni/Cd batteries.
Other options include an external no-contact battery re-charger BC140,
a carry case V140, wristband, earpiece and an output for audible alarm.
