Intellectual Property law mainly covers four forms, namely trade marks, copyright, patents and deisgns.

Trade marks: Trade mark protection is important for every business with a distinctive name it wishes to monopolise. We can assist with trade mark audits, trade mark searches, trade mark prosecution, trade mark registrations, and trade mark litigation.

Copryight: Every business having a website, should also obtain some copyright advice as all materials on websites are generally subject to copyright protection.  Copryight can further only be assigned in writing and we can assist with copyright assignment agreements, in particular relating to graphic designs and software developments.

Patents: When you have a new invention, it is best first to check with us whether it is perhaps registrable as a patent.  An invention is generally registrable as a patent if it is new, inventive, have some practical use and can be reproduced. Patent registrations generally lasts for 20 years. The PCT system allows for patent filings all over the world. Patents can add a lot of value to business.

Designs: Often, inventions eligible for patent protection, may also qualify for design protection.  There are two types of designs namely, aestetic and functional designs. Generally designs must also be new and unique.
