# man cave (noun) – [1] the demarcated area (inside or outside a domicile) that has been outfitted with all manner of man-friendly accessories; [2] a shrine to sports and entertainment; [3] an emotional sanctuary.

It is every man’s dream to have the pleasure of owning his own Man Cave, and thanks to the organisers of next year’s Decorex Durban 2012 the exhibition will be showing just how easy it is to do with the addition of ‘Operation Man Cave’ to the event schedule. Here, Man Cave enthusiasts will get the chance see and experience some of the most exciting and trendy designs as four local sports personalities and celebrities team up with designers to build their ultimate ‘Man Cave’.

This popular concept, along with the exhibitions other impressive offerings which already includes a combination of the very best in décor, design and home living, will be on display at the Durban Exhibition Centre when Decorex Durban kicks off in March 2012.

‘Operation Man Cave’ will have a strong charity element, where each of the four mystery celebrities will represent a charity of their choice. Visitors to the event will be able to vote for their favourite Man Cave by making donations to the relevant charity. The team who’s Man Cave raises the most money will earn bragging rights for creating the Ultimate Man Cave, as well receive their very own Man Cave trophy and of course raise money for a personal cause. The public will also stand a chance to win great prizes by voting for their favourite Man Cave.
Cairey Slater, Decorex Durban Exhibition Manager, says “we are really excited about the Operation Man Cave concept, it promises to add to the fun-filled atmosphere at the show and create an additional element of interest for our male visitors, and probably our female visitors as well! Durban is the ideal place for us to launch Operation Man Cave and incorporate local sports celebrities as so many people here are sport-oriented. A big thanks to our four mystery sports personalities, we are sure that this could be the start of something big”.
Each celebrity, whose names will be announced soon, will have a blank shell within which they will build their unique Man Cave, using décor, furniture and fun elements suiting each of their personalities. Sneak previews of their concepts will be uploaded onto YouTube, and these can be accessed from the Decorex SA website leading up to the show.
