The resources we consume - water, energy air, land, trees, minerals - are finite and will not be there for future generations if do not conserve them.
Our waste and where it goes once we throw it away, is our responsibility.
We may believe waste to be a technical problem for someone else to fix but it is a cornerstone for preserving our planet.
What we throw away comes back to us; our past will catch up with us.
Tedcor is piloting a materials recovery facility (MRF) in Wadeville, near Germiston in Gauteng in partnership with local buy-back centres. An MRF is a facility that receives, separates and prepares recyclable materials for marketing to end–user manufacturers.
Tedcor’s is a clean MRF which accepts recyclable materials already separated at source. We aim to divert large quantities of waste from landfill sites which are already overburdened and unhealthy.
As proof of concept is established Tedcor will establish MRFs in other areas of its operations. We believe that waste is a valuable resource which can often be recycled or re used within our community rather than buried in a landfill and we encourage citizens to recycle as much of their waste stream as possible and keep contamination low.
