Joint mobilisation is a technique used to relieve pain and restore movements in joints that are painfull, hypomobile (stiff) or following prolonged immobilisation (e.g.after removing a cast).
It can be used on any joint including backs, necks, knees, shoulders etc
Joint manipulation is a technique whereby the joint is taken to its end of movement, and then a quick thrust is applied to increase/restore movement. A "click" is often heard as the joint cavitates. This technique is also used to relive pain and reduce muscle spasm.
