Employees are entitled to paid time off work, paid
public holidays and a certain predefined amount of sick days off.
These vary greatly from company to company although the minimum
conditions laid down in the Basic Conditions of Employment Act must
be adhered to. Accumulation or abuse of leave has a tremendous cost
implication to the company.
Vision Leave Manager allows the company to set up conditions for
any number of different types of leave. Leave types may include,
but are not limited to, Holidays, Annual Leave, Sick Leave, Family
Responsibility Leave, Study Leave, Sporting Leave, Maternity Leave,
Time Off to Vote etc. Each of the individual types of leave may
have their own specific rules and conditions.
Vision will automatically control the flow of leave from Accrued
Leave through to Accumulated and/or Non-Accumulated Leave according
to the predefined rules specified. Companies are able to control
very accurately, their leave provisions. Balances that are in
excess of upper limits may be forfeited or warnings generated.
Vision has a unique way of handling the calculation of leave
balances allowing for rules to be changed as often as is necessary
even in the middle of a cycle. Vision will simply recalculate the
correct balances according to new rules.
Absenteeism is one of the most serious discipline problems
facing managers. Vision can calculate the cost of absenteeism
according to any formula required. The Monday / Friday absence
syndrome can be highlighted and investigated.
To assist in setting up the leave for new employees, leave
templates may be defined per grouping which may be a grade, job
category etc. These may also include increases that are due in the
leave after a specified period of service. When the new employee
joins, these rules are simply copied from the relevant
Leave transactions are never deleted, providing a full audit of
leave whenever required. Employees querying their leave balances,
may be provided with a complete history of both leave entitlements
and leave taken leading them to their current balance.
It is important that employees take their annual requirement of
time off. Vision allows easy enquiries and analysis of leave taken,
leave due, leave to be forfeited etc.
Leave Allowances may be marked as dormant for a period in which
an employee is not entitled to accumulate leave e.g. Maternity
Absence or Suspended Action. Once the employee returns from leave,
the relevant Allowance becomes active once again.
