3 Members from Calabash Trust attended an Asset based Community Development (ABCD) workshop hosted by Ikhala Trust in May 2011.

The workshop answered questions many of us at Calabash had relating to community development, specifically relating to a model and approach which would ensure development is led by members of the community themselves.

In the time since the ABCD workshop, many hours have been spent reflecting on our work, educating ourselves more around asset based (citizen led) development, and incorporating the approach into our existing model of work. We will never stop learning - and together with the schools and communities we work with, we plan to learn together and enrich our model to create schools as centres of leanring for the whole community..

As a start 3 teachers from WB Tshume Primary School also attended the workshop on Asset Based Community Development and discussions are being held re our way forward..
