WHICH CATEGORY DO I CHOOSE?

 YOUTH:

  • Aimed at riders between 14 - 16 years of age (on the day of the camp/clinic) only
  • These training camps will cater for various levels of ability
  • There will be a coach available for each level of ability

 NOVICE:

These group rides and clinics are for riders who:

  • Are just starting out
  • Are in need of technical skills training at a basic level
  • Perhaps technically able, but not so fit
  • Have been doing some out-rides and fun rides
  • If you’re not sure then start out in this group and up-grade for the next ride

Topics/skills covered: 

  • Basic bike set-up
  • Pedal stroke
  • Pacing yourself
  • Gear selection and shifting technique
  • Economical climbing
  • Safe descending
  • Easy singletrack riding
  • Fitness info for your level of racing

 INTERMEDIATE:

These group rides and clinics are for riders who:

  • Have been doing fun rides on a regular basis
  • Fit enough to tackle a 35-40km fun ride comfortably
  • Quite serious about your riding and racing but still want to keep the fun element
  • Get “left behind” each time you hit a single track in a race
  • Serious about your racing but feel that you’re not yet ready for advanced level
  • Wanting to use these training camps to train and prepare for events such as Karoo to Coast, To Hell & Back etc.
  • Learning on the bike

  • Quicker descending
  • Smoother singletrack riding
  • Fitness for your level of racing
  • Training info for your level of fitness

 ADVANCED:

These group rides and clinics are for riders who:

  • Have been doing local, provincial and perhaps national level racing and are looking for an edge in bike handling
  • Have been racing the longer marathon events or provincial/national level cross country racing
  • Can manage an 80 - 100 km route at a tempo pace and want to use the training camp as a training session (eg.  Daisyway Boot Camps in preparation for various multi-day stage racing eg. ABSA Cape Epic,  Sani2C, Trans Baviaans etc.)
  • Expect to ride at a good tempo pace - remembering that this is not a race, but a training ride where you can learn on the bike
  • Benefit from some of the most pristine areas in the Western Cape

By taking the above into consideration, it will help ensure that your chosen level of skills clinic or training camps etc. is best suited to your current level of fitness and ability - should there be the option of different levels on the day, you could move up or down a level where possible.

We have found that the best way to maximize a training camp or skills clinic participant, is actually ON THE BIKE!  This is why Daisyway Coaching Systems will conduct clinics and training camps as group rides.
