Working in private practice in Durbanville, I conduct psychotherapy to assist individuals with alleviating and containing their distress and helping them to optimise their level of functioning.  I work from a supportive base offering containment to clients experiencing distress or those just going through a “difficult time”.  I see adults, adolescents as well as children. I believe in creating a non-judgmental space for clients in which they can work through their internal as well as interpersonal conflicts and struggles.  Working from a mostly psychodynamic viewpoint, I see therapy as a journey of self-discovery.     My areas of interest include but are not limited to: §         Depression and other mood disorders §         Anxiety & related disorders §         Interpersonal and relational difficulties (partner conflict / parent-child conflict) §         Adjustment and transitional changes §         Bereavement and Loss experiences §         Antenatal & Post-natal complications (post natal depression/ difficulty in adjusting to parenthood) §         Difficulties of motherhood §         Interpersonal skills like Assertiveness & Conflict Resolution can also be taught §         Rape Trauma §         Parenting difficulties and skills §         Medical Psychology  (adjustment to newly diagnosed conditions) §         Personal growth & Development §         Work related coaching & counselling §         Child / Play Therapy for children   Orientation: Although I am interested in working Psychodynamically, I also have extensive experience working from a Cognitive-Behavioural perspective. Depending on the presenting problem, the level of distress experienced, as well as my clients’ needs, I aim to work collaboratively with my clients to come up with a treatment plan they feel would work for them.   The first few  sessions are set up for an assessment after which I will have a better idea of the dynamics of the situation and what I can offer.  This is also a time for clients to assess whether they are comfortable with me and my way of working.  Finding a therapist is not always easy and one needs to feel safe and “click” with your therapist for therapy to be successful.   Rates: §         I charge less than medical aid rates for consultations and work as a cash practice (EFT transactions/cash payments) §         Payment plans can also be arranged once therapy commences.  §         Credit card facilities available  §         Reduced rates are also offered for long-term therapy.    Times: I have both day time and after hour slots available My working hours are from 9am – 6 pm, Monday to Friday.     Setting: I work in a peaceful, professional setting in Durbanville central. My practice is easily accessible with available, off-street parking.    Contact: Please feel free to contact me on 0848100300 to discuss your needs or to set up an appointment.  You are also welcome to email me on [email protected]    Registration/Qualifications: I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with the HPCSA and qualified with distinction from Stellenbosch University    Contact details: Phone: 084 8100 300 Email: [email protected] Fax: 0219751337
