Activities and Associated Functions – Tiers 1 to 3
As stated above, the primary activities on which the CAV will concentrate, will be focused on mechanical/aeronautical design and manufacture. Airside activities will focus on major overhaul, major aircraft upgrades, aircraft refurbishment and finishing, and aircraft final assembly and preparation for delivery.
Table 1 below presents a breakdown of the envisaged activities. This breakdown is not intended to be exhaustive, and as new opportunities become apparent, or proposals are received, the Table will be updated and expanded.
The Table has been compiled in anticipation of, en with the wish to solicit, possible Denel involvement in the CAV, and will be further updated following greater clarity regarding the Denel intended activities in the CAV.
Indirect Support Activities – Tier 4
Indirect Support Activities refer to those that do not directly support the above mainline activities, but constitute general service needs in the CAV. As the size and population of the CAV grows, they nevertheless constitute opportunities for ancillary SMME development.
