EDUCATION & BURSARIES
The Alipur Muslim Association has always placed great emphasis on education. We need to educate our children so that our community can produce creative men & women who will aim for nothing but exellence.
More and more doors are opening for us and we now exposed to careers and professions which were hitherto closed to us.
We have a duty to educate our children. The western orientated and dominated society into which we live demand that we inculcate in our children a type of knowledge with an Islamic ethos to ensure that we are not swept with the tide.We must ensure that our children aquire fundamental knowledge which they require in order to fulfill their natural functions as human beings. Similarly professional knowledge is a pre-requisite in order to earn a living.
Sadly many of our children do not have this opportunity due to lack of funds. With this in mind the AMA started its bursary scheme. From its humble beginning in 1989 when a modest sum of R1842.04 was made available to a deserving student, the AMA bursary scheme has now assisted more than 100 learners and have, in the process, disbursed more than R1 000 000,00.
Many of our students have qualified and are excelling in their chosen professions. Whilst many students who benefitted from the bursary scheme have repaid the amounts made available to them, or have made arrangements in this regard, others have sadly not done so.
We call upon all students who have completed their studies, and who are gainfully employed, to contact us so that we could make arrangements for repayment. In this way we will be in a position to help others in need. We also urge all students to actively participate in the affairs and activities of the Association.
We thank our doners for their generosity,Without their contribution,we would not be in the position to assist those in need. May the almighty Allah SWT reward them abundantly.
We have recently instituted a short message service (SMS) via cellphones. Its an ideal way to communicate with members, particularly, but not exclusively, for funeral announcements. Please contact Abdul Rehman Dajee on 083 510 8750 if you are not yet on the database
