About Mechanical and Machine Tool Services (Pty) Ltd (MMTS)
Mechanical and Machine Tool Services (MMTS) specialises in the manufacture and repair of barrels, screws and other machine components for injection moulders and extruders in plastics and rubber industry. The company also manufactures granulators, nibblers, screen changers, spaghetti heads, toggles and do general engineering. Twin screw extruders are also reconditioned.
Machine capacity consists of 13 lathes up to 6 metre between centres, a planer/miller, five milling machines, 100mm spindle horizontal boring mill, 5 metre blade grinder, 6 meter honing machine, 3 cylindrical grinders up to 6 metres, drilling machines, small surface grinder, welding rotator, polishing machines, welders, presses, shapers and a host of portable tools and equipment.
The company employs 9 artisans, 17 semi-skilled labourers, 3 sales representatives, 4 office staff, and the General Manager.
We have several competitors, but we hold the largest market share in repairs and refurbishment of barrels and screws in South Africa. We are growing in Sub-Saharan Africa, including Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Malawi.
The company opened in November 1998 with the aim of servicing users of plastics and rubber machinery in South African and across our borders, and also to be active in the field of general engineering. The company is managed by Philippe Descroizilles who has over 50 years of experience in the engineering industry. Philippe is being actively supported by the two new owners of the company, Anthony Wilmot and Justin McPhail.
The company orginally operated from premises of about 600 square metres and in December 2000 moved to premises in Germiston of more than 1700 square metre.
